“The president’s got eclectic tastes in movies and is obviously pop-culture savvy. But when is the appropriate time to bring up that you were in a stoner comedy about Guantánamo? Is it after the national-security meeting? Before he goes in to meet with Geithner about economic policy?”—Kal Penn, of the Harold & Kumar franchise, on his time working in the Obama administration and the resulting challenges of bringing up his previous work experience. “Like I said, Tweet ‘em. Tweet ‘em. They’re all Tweeting all over the place. Tweet ‘em back.”—President Obama, telling students at a rally at the University of Colorado how to get Congress’s attention. (via dcdecoder)
Hi, just wanted your opinion and it would be great if you messaged me back. Do you think expert witnesses are relied upon too heavily in (UK) court? How can the system be improved? =]
Well, thanks for your question, but as the POLITICO Tumblr monkey with a healthy interest in US politics, I’m not an expert on UK court procedures. But, Tumblr is a big place! I’m sure someone else can weigh in.
POLITICO Primary: Who's your ideal 3rd-party candidate?
The public has had it with Washington and conventional politics. It has lost trust and respect in the conventional governing class. There is mounting evidence voters don’t see President Barack Obama or the current crop of GOP candidates as the clear and easy solution. As Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg argues, it seems likely if not inevitable an atmosphere this toxic and destabilized will produce an independent presidential candidate who could shake the political system. If so, who? Is there a person in politics, business or entertainment who could harness the public’s hunger for something new, different and inspiring? We are putting this question to readers to solicit ideas and ultimately vote on them.
This is part parlor game, part reporting assignment — and hinges entirely on voters and readers engaging in the debate. So have at it. (The schedule is to the right and the rules are below). - Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen
